St 3 Painting

Visual artist working across the mediums of acrylic and oil paint, photography, video art, and film. Flowing between realism, surrealism, and impressionism, with frequent combinations of all three. In my painting works I explore the somatic resonance of color, feeling imparted by gesture, the creativity and cognitive flexibility experienced as the mind makes shape with color and abstract imagery, and the conscious and subconscious experience of symbology. I believe in art as a force for good. Color and shape uniquely bypass the rational mind, deconstruct outdated belief systems, affirm updated belief systems, and resynchronize the rational mind with the imagination to allow for a shift in perspective. Beyond a cognitive experience, the physical and emotional effects of experiencing art can enhance health, harmony, and well-being. Working with the concept that the imagination is the place of creation, the place where all things came from, I am inspired to create work that is physically, mentally, and emotionally helpful for individuals and the collective - work that is a force for good.
