Simple Joy (Roses in a Vase) Painting

I choose art subjects to which I feel a deep personal connection, which fascinate me or make me feel joyful. Often it will be a landscape or seascape, ocean wildlife, or the bounty of food which comes from the garden or the ocean. My color choices are also crucial in my interpretation, as they evoke a strong emotional and even physical response in me. I usually have my color palette in mind before I even decide on the subject of my art. I sign my art with my middle name, Anondi, which means “bliss” in Sanskrit. Growing up I was exposed to both Indian and Western art traditions, living mainly in India but also periodically in the USA. At school in the Himalayas, my art subjects were the local plants and the mountain scenery. I attended the University of Redlands in California and then attained a BFA degree from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia.
