About The Artwork
I painted this after visiting an amazing exhibition in the Tate. I wasn't hoping to achieve anything specific, I just wanted to try painting more freely and see what came out of it. Inspired by the approach of Frank Auerbach I painted the same image over and over on top of the last until I was happy with the result. As usual, the strokes were applied very urgently and I even used a hairdryer in between layers to speed up the process.

I was born in Wales, studied in Nottingham and now live and work in Folkestone. I've finally given in to the fact that I need to make art. I quit my day job to start painting in January 2013. I'm also a beekeeper. I usually work in acrylic using just 5 colours and a hairdryer. I paint, draw and etch faces mostly, but plan to do more wildlife pieces in the future.
