Samurai Painting

I have painted a portrait of a samurai because I have always been attracted to their culture. The samurai were a warrior class of Japanese society during the feudal period (9th to 12th centuries). They were dedicated to the defence of the feudal lord they served and were considered noble and loyal warriors. The samurai followed a code of conduct called the "bushido code", which included values ​​such as loyalty, honour, courage and discipline. The samurai were trained in the handling of weapons, military tactics and fighting techniques, and were considered expert warriors. In addition, they were also trained in arts such as poetry, painting, and gardening, and were expected to be cultured and refined in their manners and dress. The role of the samurai in Japanese society changed over time. During the Edo period (1603-1868), when Japan experienced great stability and internal peace, samurai became administrators and protectors of feudal lords rather than active warriors. However, they were still considered a privileged and respected class. With the end of the feudal system and the modernization of Japan in the 19th century, the samurai lost their status and power. Even so, the legacy of the samurai remains an important part of Japanese culture, and they continue to be admired for their loyalty, honour, and discipline.
