About The Artwork

From my new series "If you love me, take me to the sea": a watery abstract landscape, lots of layers of blue, light blue, little white and rose. You can see a landscape, you can see clouds, rain and waves... I have been interested in the structures that emerge when painting with lots of liquids, letting water do the painting, but deciding where this process will go. These traces copy the beauty of small traces found in nature everywhere when you look closely. It is part of a series of smaller canvas works called "If you love me, take me to the Sea" and I work a mixed technique on those paintings with different results. I think that this painting likes a frame, so I offer it framed in a silver wooden floating frame. Of course you can have it unframed, the sides are painted so it doesn´t really need one. Or you choose another color. Silver, white, grey, nature wood would work fine, too. If you would like it unframed, contact me and I will reduce the cost of the frame. 20x50 cm on stretched canvas. Varnished. Wooden frame and ready to hang with hook at the back. Signed on the back. (c) Gesa Reuter 2018

Based in Germany, Gesa Reuter’s artistic practice started in 1996. She has since studied the techniques of the old Dutch masters, layering selfmade gouache, egg tempera and sometimes oil to build her paintings with different layers of paint from thin to thick. Recently she has discovered the power of watercolours and ink in her work, enjoying the way the watery materials leave marks and traces to describe her inner feelings and emotions. Rather than painting an accurate visual representation of a landscape, she prefers to use the power of memory; her artworks are an expression of her feelings and emotions in the moment of experiencing the landscape." (Inside Artists, Issue 9, Summer 2017) So far, her works have been exhibited in Germany and Europe, mainly sold to private collectors in Germany, U.S.A., UK, NL, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, to architects, small companies, private medical and psychological practices. In public collection of Amateras Foundation, Bulgaria, NHS England and Kunsthaus Stove, Germany.
