Quilt 3 Painting

This is the third in a series of "quilted" landscapes. I was inspired by looking at aerial photographs in the book Overview. I was enthralled by the infinite variety of patterns in the landscapes shown from high above. I decided to invent my own landscapes so that each area suggested different invented quilt patterns. Color and pattern are the most important elements in my work in general, so this subject matter gave me the opportunity to explore both. The end result is a harmonious whole even though each section is very different from the other. Therein lay the challenge!
