In a vast, sunny space, a child stops in front of a puddle where he sees splashes of liquid and around him, in his dreamed imagery, participates in a catastrophe fire, immense smoke taking the form of clouds. The painting was conceived for the group exhibition "Etiam periere ruinae - Tivoli Meets Palmyra" at Estensi Stables inTivoli. At that time, the world watched in disbelief as the archaeological site of Palmyra was destroyed. The child portrayed belongs to the affluent Western world, but even he can feel the fright running through the world. I love the determined pose, the intimate and concentrated expression of the child from which I started to construct the painting.

My gaze focuses on nature, animals and man. Protagonist are young people or children, simply immersed in their thoughts or intent on their games, transported into somewhat dreamy, airy and suspended surroundings. Inspiration moves from the enchantment of a gesture or expression, in which I perceive intuitions, fantasies or mild anxieties, references to contiguous worlds: glimpses of nature, surreal elements, animals living in freedom, airplanes and gliders in flight. These things continually fascinate me. Following a perceptive thread, I often paint diptychs or triptychs, short stories in which the representational space is divided and the narration takes place between colored and monochrome canvases, pursuing the psychological connections between moments that are distant in space and not necessarily contemporaneous. I am seeking a dimention where man and nature meet in harmony an intimate, fragile dimension where what is real borders on the world of dreams and intuitions. In 1989, I moved to Rome, where I pursued a demanding career in scenic design for more than twenty years, for theater, film and television alike. Around 2010 I scaled back my activities as a set designer to devote myself more intensively to painting.
