Pomegranate Painting

This work was created while I was living in Cyprus and is a tribute to the memories of my first visit to the island several years earlier. My first visit did not coincide with pomegranate season, however, it was the pomegranate and the use of its image in local jewelry that became one of the memorable moments. This association with the island was firmly imprinted in my head. In Cyprus, the pomegranate is a symbol of the goddess Aphrodite and is associated with fertility, abundance, prosperity and vitality. Later, Cyprus took an important place in my heart, it turned from just a sunny island, where people usually come for the warm sea, into something completely different. It gave a feeling of home among a different culture. Here I reflected a lot on my different experiences of being in one place at different times and the unpredictability of life Since for me this island, and its connection with the pomegranate, among other things, appeals to the world of feelings, I tried to move away from the realistic image typical of my work into the world of emotions and intuitive drawing. I didn't need a scrupulous and precise depiction, but I did need a level of feeling and expression. I tried to convey passion, exuberance, brightness, richness, contrast - the very associations that arise from fertility. I took a limited color palette and focused on the colors that I think most resonate with the feeling. The work is done with acrylic on tinted paper. Includes certificate of authenticity
