I hope Leonardo da Vinci isn't turning in his grave at the sight of my take on his masterpiece! Il Cenacolo (The last supper) is particularly dear to me as the original mural is here, in Milan, the city where I've been living for many years. Due to the many tourists who now pour into Milan, you can't just walk in anymore but have to book well in advance. However, it is well worth the wait! A magical experience in fact. For my painting, I have roughly used Leonardo's famous composition, but my people are of mixed gender and in modern attire. The canvas is long and narrow with a crossbar for extra strength.

I have recently moved back to the UK after living in Italy for almost all my adult life. The Mediterranean lifestyle features greatly in my work and I hope it continues to do so. Check out my latest slideshow on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XKGOFS3ao0&feature=youtu.be Rosalind Roberts is a full-time English artist, living and working in Milan, Italy. My art is all about people and how they relate to their environment. In the sunshine or in the shade. Even when no figure can be seen in a painting, the human being with all his/her moods and eccentricities, fragility and strength, is still very present. Where would we be without other people? Interacting with others is a necessity and I find myself drawn to depicting this interaction. Being an artist for me means being on a never-ending learning curve. You can never put the brush down and say, “Right, I’ve mastered it”. You have to continually strive to improve and refine your technique. Sometimes it can be very frustrating and then one day, click, you’ve moved along the curve a little bit more and the sun is shining down on you. Thanks to Saatchiart and the Internet, I now have collectors all over the world, some of whom I am in contact with on a regular basis. It gives me enormous pleasure to think of my creations hanging on walls all over the world and to thank my collectors, I always enclose a surprise gift in their package.
