About The Artwork
Combining realism and abstraction helps me speak to a need to convey the complexity inherent in a contemporary pastoral landscape. While I find beauty and tranquility in rural subjects I also find change and environmental complexity. I want my viewers to see the beauty in such a scene but also the unexpected abstraction and to ponder the meaning. Having a farm with a herd of cows for thirty five years has been a long time source of my inspiration. I love the colors and qualities of oil paint and the building up of texture and depth that is possible in the medium.This painting has painted sides and requires no framing. It is wired to hang and will bring a quiet modernity to the room in which it hangs.

For thirty-five years she and her husband raised cattle on their farm in central Virginia, nurturing a herd comprised of many breeds and diverse models for her painting. In her work, she explores the emotional depths of her subjects, bridging the boundary between the human and animal worlds.
