In all village festivals of Bengal, we found puppets made up of palm leaves commonly known as ‘Tal patar Sipahi’ in Bengali i.e, Watchman. In my painting, the lady is waiting for someone with a puppet in her hand. She is not lonely because she has a ‘Sipahi’ in her hand.

My artworks are made up of bold figures which are emphasized by a host of vibrant colours. Glimpse of Indian Folk Forms, the stylised figures are composed of simple, but expressive lines which are highlighted by brighter hues, giving the images the curious effect of being lit from within. My works are all about the sights and scenes of rural India and from parts of Indian mythology. Most of the paintings show the likes of women in their day to day activities. From painting the cheerful girl to a sulking woman reflects the artist’s keen insight on the woman's thought and feelings.
