Komema is the Lingala phrase "to carry." Growing up I watched and participated in the carrying of water in buckets after fetching them from a water source like an outdoor faucet or a nearby water dispensing area. Komema water from one place to another is very common and often turns into moments of community and camaraderie between women, men, mothers, fathers, grandparents, and children in a neighborhood or village.
