This artwork, my 47th in a dedicated series loosely based on the fortification designs of the 17/18C French Maréchal Vauban, is a triptych on canvas, the two either side measuring 100 x 70 cms with the central measuring 100 x 100 cms… thus 240 x 100 cms overall. This abstract subject continues my Vauban theme and introduces my love of the works of the Russian (later French) artist Vassily Kandinsky who created one of the very first purely abstract works of art. My treatment here is with acrylic and spray paints… the overall photo has been very difficult to present and correct with the multitude of colours and tones, but I think the detail shots and the image showing me working on some final details in my studio space will provide more information. My wall hanging recommendations are either unframed for simplicity, with a perhaps a 1cm space between the individual canvasses, or mounted similarly in a ‘floating’ frame.

France
Abstract artist... stock photographer... writer... plant-based... fixie-cyclist... minimalist... and easy going, I studied Interior Design at art college in the 1960s, then worked in the TV and film industry for more than a decade, before turning to photography full-time. Later I published and edited specialist photographic magazines on darkroom techniques for several years and continue to supply digital images to the world's largest photo agency from my current location here in France. However, in a hard working retirement I spend much more time and energy as an abstract fine artist working with all media from old-fashioned paper, pencil and paint to creative collage and canvas.
