My paintings endeavour to capture the essence of Indian rural life for women. The inequality and lowly position in society of women is fast changing for the better. They do however still often need to endanger their health by carrying heavy loads. On this occasion sacks of grain are carried on their heads.

Born in Sheffield before moving to London to study. Exhibited in a number of galleries in London and the South East including the Indian High Commission Cultural centre; the Nehru centre. My work does not try to capture the chaotic bustle of the Indian cities which many people associate with India. I am more interested in the slower paced passage of time found in less visited parts of the country and the traditional lives and issues faced by rural Indian women.
