About The Artwork

This original abstract expressionistic painting is full of pink. I rarely have an idea in my head when I approach a canvas. I let the spirit inside me guide me as I put paint down and then subtract it until I am comfortable with the outcome. After I finished this work and studied it, it looked to me person (me), holding back the something. "Hold the Line", is a picture of the stance we are to take when the enemy comes to assault our identities - as we choose this stance we will hold the line of what God has claimed as His own about us, refusing to give the enemy any ground. As Jesus said in John 15, "As the Father has loved me so I have loved you. Now remain in that place of His love." We are to remain in that place of His love remembering the words He has spoken even as the enemy advances toward us. This painting wraps around the sides to give it a finished look if you choose not to frame it. Acrylic on canvas 48" X 36" Signed on side by me the artist.

I have always loved to draw and paint. I was born on Long Island and now reside in North Carolina as a self employed artist. I have studied at the Art Students League and the Fashion Institute of Technology both in New York City, and have a degree in Fashion Illustration and a Fellowship in Folk Art Studies from the American Folk Art Museum in New York. I also was a resident artist at The Studio in Apex, North Carolina. I love American Folk Art. My paintings are often inspired by the fresh, direct and imaginative work of folk art painters. Sometimes I use a scratching technique, like scraffito on pottery to give texture to my work. I am an intuitive painter. I paint in response to the inner leading of the spirit within me. I rarely have an idea in my head as I approach my canvas. that being said, I believe that as an artist pursues their craft with intention and integrity they will be rewarded with vision and skill to create a thing of beauty and truth. As an abstract painter, I enjoy working in acrylic the most, yet I like the diversity of all the mediums that are out there in the market. As a creative person I am always challenged to explore new techniques which sometimes means leaving the old behind. I think the best painters are the risk takers. It's the best place to be and where the real rewards are for the artist.
