About The Artwork

I use all kind of materials in my work to express the feelings i want to share. Lately there's a lot of light in my work. We live in strange times, very dark also sometimes. I want to spread light, hope and love with my work. I use a lot of dots, as a symbol for light, but also as seeds. The woman stands for an universal mother figure (Mary, Maryam) She cries and her tears turns to pearls and seeds. She brings comfort and hope. I often use text in my work. These are words from songs, movies and religions. I use it as a pattern. Connecting thoughts with emotions, intellect with the heart.

Momo Luna S!gnals is the collective term i use for my art. I am Monica Croese. In the early eighties i followed the school of arts, Arnhem, The Netherlands.  It always starts with an eye.  That's the beginning for a new painting or drawing.  As long as i can remember, i have been drawing. It's like breathing for me.  I am a dreamer and i create magical worlds.  These worlds explore social themes based on my personal experiences.  Which I then translate into collective memories. Birth, death, love, awareness. Life itself.   A connection between archetypes and emotions. It's all about the human condition, that's what fascinates me. I hope that the layered emotions of my work are actually felt. My way to communicate with other people. My vision of the world in which we live.  I start with an eye, then chaos arises, ending in a new world.  A new reality with complex meanings. My work isn't intended as a decoration, it does not have to be beautiful. It sands and pinches. It can be a question or an exclamation mark. The core of our existence. With all its darkness and light, ugliness and hope. That is the real beauty for me. Artist Monica Croese speaks out through Momo Luna S!gnals. She tells stories, gives commentary, exposes emotions through her very own visual language. Her work is often clear in color and shape and tells stories about women or how people like to position her or how she does this herself. The weaker sex or the primal power of the all-rounder? We see mother, mistress, sex object. We see vulnerability and pain, but also acumen and strength. The woman, in her 'combat outfit' is ready, because the battle is far from over. Claar Griffioen  The Arnhem-based artist Monica Croese creates art that often raises questions. . Her work - in all forms - is not immediately accessible at first sight, but if you dare to look, you will find the roots of our human existence in the layers of her work. This makes her work fair, open and universal. Angelica Obino. The art of Monica Croese can be confronting sometimes. Not exactly the nice painting above the sofa.  The group of fans of her work is growing steadily. Her work can be found  in private collections in the Netherlands and abroad.
