This painting is part of a series of figure immersed in bodies of water, often up to their faces. The water soothes, protects and but can also overwhelm. 'Green Tara in the Slough' is active with the woman's pond companions going about their usual activities while she watches on. I recently used these same elements but wanted to see them again in a more muted palette of soft greens and grays. I continue to enjoy painting on the glass of old windows like this. The paint is applied to the back so the whole composition is done backwards. The frame is the old wood window frame which has been trimmed down and repainted but left distressed on the face, with obvious signs of its age. A braided wire is attached to the back with d-rings for conventional wall hanging. Signed in the composition and again on the back, along with the title and date. For 4 months starting on June 1. 2022 this piece has been moved to 'Not For Sale' as it is part of a solo show at Perry & Carlson in Mount Vernon, WA. If it doesn't sell during that time it will be returned here to the 'For Sale' category. In the meantime, prints are still available for sale through Saatchi.

I value the gestural mark, the traces of the human hand in artwork, imperfection and pieces that seek to involve the viewer, requiring them to complete the piece before them. My themes vary widely, wherever my soul, or my nose, takes me. My work is always starts with sketches and studies. I enjoy working with a subject and exploring it repeatedly in multiple pieces that vary in scale and media as a way of challenging my own perception and preconceived notions. I hope the viewer of these also has an experience of renewal and fresh ways of looking.
