About The Artwork
Gadfly Minus Three uses the different reflective properties of basic and metallic oil paint to exaggerate the dizzying operation of the spiral. Other movements appear in different lighting conditions. No photograph represents the painting completely. The spirals and other patterns are not just decorative but operational in that they contribute to the dizzying effect that is one of the intentions of the work. The pattern is loosely based on ancient Greek mosaics.

I studied painting in the 1960s, gained my M.A. in 1995 and completed my M.Phil thesis in 2000. My work has been exhibited since early solo shows in 1970s. Some Solo shows have been titled as “Divertimenta” and “Elusion and Revision”. Most recent solo show was entitled False Doors and Timeless Thresholds. I reach wider viewers through the Axis website and online exhibitions. I live near Louth in Lincolnshire.
