Rafael Alencar is a visual artist born in 1991 in Belo Horizonte. His academic background is in Civil Engineering, and although it is not directly connected to art, he uses geometric elements to compose his paintings, which are widely seen in the field of civil construction. Self-taught, he became interested in art from childhood through paintings and drawings. In 2017, after graduating, he decided to return to painting, and in the same year, he was among the 10 finalists of Gothenburg Art 21, where his work Pantanal was reproduced on a street mural in Gothenburg, Sweden. His work has varied subjects, from landscapes to portraits. The artist takes as his main guideline in his original works the awareness of issues related to the preservation of nature, female empowerment, and Brazilian historical and social themes, through strong colors that represent the diversity of his country. Rafael has had his works exhibited in galleries, in Brazil and abroad, with works acquired by admirers in various parts of the world, such as the United States, France, and Italy.
