Fresh Scars Painting

Healing is a word thrown around excessively. Often the process is explained in a linear fashion—from an injury (trauma) - our body creates a protective/coping mechanism - then after a while, danger has passed but body keeps resorting to its survival instinct (fight/freeze/flight). Not only is mine not linear—little prospect of getting over it and forgetting—it’s also localized. Initial wound almost killed me; flesh forming around it was flimsy at best; then the same place gets cut again; scar forms faster than before; apply ointment—oh it’s the wrong kind; let it breathe and over time it’ll become better—be patient - Fresh Scars is a physical representation of psychological wounds. Not only is it not linear, it defies logic and systematic processing. If refuses to be analyzed and categorized—it requires a full attention (of yours).
