About The Artwork
The prevalence of luxurious and humongous gates in the homes of Indonesian upper-class is the catharsis for this work. The unwelcoming nature of those gates seem to act more as a prison to the home-owner, rather than a status symbol. In the work, I used embroidery to illustrate a cage-like structures that is being torn apart, releasing the insecurity within. While the background acts as a point of reference to the subject.
