I used Liquitex Muted Grey ink to stain Big Ben and the London Eye so that I could go over again once I painted the sunset.
In this shot, I had just sketched out the painting and applied masking fluid to the clock so it would remain white whilst i painted the sky and clock tower.

About The Artwork

This is my interpretation of the sun setting on three iconic places of London; The London Eye, Big Ben and Westminster. If one looks closely one can see the people inside the pods of the Eye enjoying the view. I used acrylics for the bright colours of the sunset and muted violet for the buildings so the clock of Big Ben stands out more. Painted on a box canvas so it is ready to hang.

I am a self taught artist who was born and raised in The Bahamas. I am inspired by everyday things and find beauty in my surroundings. I constantly think of new things to paint when driving or walking around or travelling. I enjoy painting many different subjects including wildlife, pets, seascapes, city and landscapes, flowers and boats. Light fascinates me and I love to show this in my paintings either with sunsets, sunrises, night lights, shadows and other ways that light may present itself in a picture. I currently live in London and I am constantly inspired by the cityscapes, skylines iconic buildings like Big Ben, Tower Bridge, London Eye and all this amazing cites a city like this has to offer. I will be dedicating more of my painting time capturing what I love about London. I enjoy travelling as well as photography; often using photos as a reference when choosing my next subject. Acrylics are my first love but I use different mediums including colour pencils, watercolours and gouache. There are a huge variety of surfaces on which to paint but among my favourites are Khadi 100% recycled cotton rag paper or canvas.
