About The Artwork

The balance between opposites includes balance between emotion and reason, between beauty and ugliness, between modernity and tradition, between light and darkness, between female and male...that is the balance of yin and yang, and it is considered a spiritual journey, the process of understanding and expressing beauty through unity. Unifying yin and yang will help us sublimate, express and feel the harmony between the physical and spiritual beauty of everything around us.

Artist Thai Hung Nguyen Born in 1962 in Yen Bai City, Yen Bai Province, Thai Hung Nguyen is a Vietnamese artist known for his dynamic abstract and cubist paintings. He graduated from Hanoi University of Culture and has established himself as a significant contributor to the local art scene while residing in Hanoi, Vietnam. Thai Hung’s artistic journey began under the mentorship of the esteemed École des Beaux - Arts d'Indochine graduated Artist Pham Viet Song, from whom he learned the intricacies of oil painting. His choice of materials includes oil and acrylic paints, which he believes best express his vision of capturing the transient movements of his surroundings in multidimensional spaces over slices of time. A regular participant in the annual exhibitions of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association and the Hanoi Fine Arts Association, Thai Hung has also showcased his work in group shows and notable exhibitions abroad, including an exhibition in Canberra, Australia in 1998. His most recent solo exhibition, “Slices of Time,” was held in 2022. Thai Hung’s works are part of several private collections in Vietnam, Australia, Norway, and France. He has been awarded first prize for the mascot design at the 22nd SEA Games and continues to be an active and independent member of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association. Thai Hung’s inspiration comes from an internal drive to manifest his daily visual experiences onto the canvas, continually pushing the boundaries of traditional painting to reflect his perceptions and emotional responses to the world around him.
