Ertuğrul Ateş was born in 1954 in Adana. He graduated from 1976 Gazi Education Institute. In the same year, he went to England and continued his education in London Kingsway Princeton College and Bethnal Green Institution. He opened his first exhibition in Istanbul in 1980. He went to America in 1987 and settled in New York and continued his work until 2006. In 1988, he signed an agreement with a group of 10 collectors, especially Ahmet Ertegün. In 2004, Hürrem Sultan wrote and directed the dance performance. The 2006 Beijing Olympics were invited to the biennial. , Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Adana cities and many exhibitions and events. The artist continues his life and works in İzmir-Çeşme. Ertuğrul Ateş, also known as “Ribbon Painter”, said, “My paintings do not propose solutions, they do not teach; He whispered things incomprehensible to your ears softly. ” Describing that art, that is, creativity, makes life meaningful, Ateş describes his view of art and the artist as follows.
