About The Artwork
This is another painting in a new series of big paintings on Tyvek paper I am creating. At the end of May 2023, I found my large set of sketchbooks I created while I was a student at The San Francisco Art Institute ( 1986-1989). The figures in the paintings are from those sketchbooks. I used acrylic paint and glued paper numbers and letters with Mod Lodge glitter glue. The back of the paper has the Tyvek logo. The bottom of the painting will be signed in black ink. This painting represents Strength thru adversity, protection with angels & Hamsas and by using bright colors that POP, the painting breathes and lives. My work has been called whimsical and on the surface it certainly appears to be that, but my themes of difficult relationships, my self worth and my daily life are always explored in my work. This painting will be sent rolled in a tube.

Born USA. I started making art at the age of 21. I was admitted on the spot to the San Francisco Art Institute upon showing the Dean of Admissions my portfolio of Thurberesque Drawings with funny captions. Much of my artistic inspiration from my flea market finds ( vintage & rare ephemera), my huge unusual vintage, children's book collection, dance & burlesque performances, icons, symbols and images from all kinds of religions and my exploration into personal relationships. Although I have a distinctive style, I have explored many mediums- collage, painting, drawing, print making & fabric design, digital art. Some of my work is pretty and decorative but I also create ugly & raw paintings. These self therapy paintings are meant to be ugly and humourous . Kitsch, fashion, phtography, film, Children's art, German expressionism, Matisse, Dufy, Nolde, Redon as well as unknown outsider & folk+ art brut artists are have contributed to my style.
