In the oeuvre of visual artist Simon Woudwijk, different techniques are intertwined, painting, sculptures in different materials and photographs. The work in two and three dimensions influence each other, they complement or offer a different, broader, perspective. This creates work, autonomous and connected. With the central theme "time" represented by a/the wheel. This work is partly carried out in pasty oil paint. The title in Dutch “een teken” (translates as "one sign") this refers as well to the artist gesture making a work of art as to the using in this painting of the one sign (symbol for time, the wheel). This sign (drawing) was made directly into the wet oilpaint.
