Dokonaly obrazek - The Perfect Picture Stained glass windows have always fascinated me, especially the creation of one with so much intricate detail. My interest in this subject, took me to a number of churches in Europe that had such windows. One thing I love about them, is when, sun light passes through them and the whole scene comes alive, as if it is being enacted in front of us, like a play or a drama. The specific window in this artwork, is in the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, right at the top of the staircase. I found this photograph on the internet and it looked so aesthetically appealing, that I decided to paint it. One day, I would love to go to the museum and see this specific stained-glass window myself. I do not know who the woman in the artwork is, but the sheer vibrance of colors and detail in the window pushed me into recreating it on canvas. In my opinion it is a perfect picture and hence I name it Dokonaly obrazek which means - The Perfect Picture in the Czech language, that is the official language of Prague. The term-stained-glass refers either to colored glass as a material or to works created from it. Throughout its thousand-year history, the term has been applied almost exclusively to the windows of churches and other significant religious buildings. Although traditionally made in flat panels and used as windows, the creations of modern stained-glass artists also include three-dimensional structures and sculpture As a material-stained glass is glass that has been colored by adding metallic salts during its manufacture, and usually then further decorating it in various ways. The colored glass is crafted into stained glass windows in which small pieces of glass are arranged to form patterns or pictures, held together (traditionally) by strips of lead and supported by a rigid frame. Painted details and yellow Stain are often used to enhance the design. The most expensive glass being red, as gold dust is mixed with the molten glass that give a deep red hue on cooling. My love for bright, bold and vibrant colors and the most intricate of details, is why I picked this specific stained-glass window to recreate on canvas. It definitely shows my style of art - eye catching bright bold and vibrant colors and an attention to minute details. I would love my audience to enjoy this beautiful window and want to visit this museum someday to view it firsthand.

The inclination towards painting and art was a natural transition. Being the daughter of an Architect who was an extraordinary artist himself meant that Ritina was exposed to drawings, precision, structure and expression of art from a very young age. Though, she did engage in painting during her academic years, it was more of a hobby and pass time activity whenever she needed to empty her mind and relax, which just faded away unknowingly as if pushed to the back burner. During her formative years, she engaged in a great deal of painting techniques, like fabric painting, art on pottery, and wooden surfaces, all just a source of enjoyment. It wasn’t till very recent times that she really started pursuing this passion seriously. Her works of art have been sold and gifted to a lot of her friends and family. The recent years have been an interesting journey, where she looks back and see’s the transformation of an amateur to a more professional level as an artist. However, the more interesting part has been her enjoying every single moment of this journey. The more she learns, the more she realizes, how much she does not know about the infinite spectrum of art! Living in the peaceful town of Tennessee, USA, has been a blessing, as it has let Ritina explore and express her creativity through every new piece of art she creates. Losing track of time when engrossed in art is so very true for this artist, who toils for perfection, by giving each piece of artwork her true heart and soul. So rightly said in her own words – “Each piece of my artwork is like a piece of me being reflected through it. They are me in the form of a painting.” Guess it is true that when passion becomes profession, you never work again! A self-taught artist, with no training in the field of art and painting, she has reached her present level of skill through practice and watching other artists at work on the internet. She enjoys using various surfaces, mediums and textures for painting and is always keen to try out something new. Doing commissioned artwork is a challenge which gives her an opportunity to stretch her limits even further. Recently, she ventured into portrait painting too, which is a whole new arena by itself. Basically, her preferred medium has always been acrylics, due to its speedy drying time. Sometimes the use of oils, where blending and creating textures, has always been simpler, also indulges her.
