About The Artwork

Dance of the Moon Beams is a 20"x20" acrylic abstract on a deep gallery wrapped canvas. A very good friend and excellent artist told me recently that for artists the meaning of abstract paintings lies in the history of the layers of the painting. This is absolutely true for this painting that probably received at least 20 layers over just a week. Dance started as a very light misty morning full of beautiful pastel colours. But it had a will of its own and quickly became sunlight through darkening clouds and on and on...colours changed, composition changed, emotions changed...just like life! With each layer, I told myself: it was nice before; why did I change it? Finally, after several days, Dance of the Moon Beams started to swirl and swirl and finally it stood still and I knew it was done...and I liked it. I hope you will like it too. The painting is wired, initialed at the front and signed on the bank. It has received a light layer of varnish to protect it from dust and UV rays. It will be wrapped very securely for shipping and will come with a Certificate of Authenticity.

When I paint, I am happy and feel whole. I paint the beauty of light and the joy I find in life! My work wants to be a sharing of a moment of serenity and balance. It is an expression and reconciliation of my inner dichotomy: I love creativity while needing structure; I love fluidity and softness of colors while craving realist details and lines. Consequently, for example, my watercolour demonstrate realism with colors much enhanced by my imagination. My paintings of sculptures and carvings depict the dancing light on crumbling brickwork, or pastel colors on the stone carvings. In my acrylic or watercolour “Leaves Series”, mysterious but serene light filters through the stems and leaves, water shimmers here and there as the leaves float on the pond. My oil paintings dance with vibrant colors on top of well-structured florals. My first art love was watercolour and my watercolour paintings have won many awards and I have completed major corporate commissions in watercolour. However, I am an explorer at heart and love to try new surfaces, new styles and techniques. I go from watercolour to acrylic paints to mixed media to realistic oils. In the last few years I have become obsessed with detailed oil florals especially of peonies and sunflowers.
