About The Artwork
I made this painting while visiting the Algarve Region in Southern Portugal. We took a boat taxi to a small island called Faro for lunch. It was surrounded by colorful boats and fishermen who had just docked for the day. I was inspired by the reflection of the boat in the water because it was full of abstract shapes. I hope that viewers will admire the light and color that I captured in the reflections. Hopefully, they will feel a sense of calm because of the blue water that engulfs the boat. I work in oil paint due to its versatility. Since it dries slower than other paints, I am able to glaze transparent layers of color over one another to create luminous effects.
