About The Artwork
This is an oil painting of one of the iconic canons on the Eastern Prom in Portland, Maine. The canons were installed during the Civil War as a deterrent. They symbolize protection, peace, and security. The Eastern Prom is a beautiful location overlooking Casco Bay. This was painted on location during the summer and completed in the studio. The canon is a historic attraction. The scene reminds us of warm breezes and relaxing by the sea. I am influenced by Sargent and his direct painting of locations. I am also influenced by Winslow Home and his love for the rugged Maine coast.

I have painted business leaders such as the posthumus portrait of L.L. Bean for the L.L. Bean Company in Freeport, Maine, Marvin Sadik, the former director of the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. and the late philanthropist Elizabeth Noyce for her private collection. I have painted multitudes of children portraits throughout the years. I am now painting landscapes in oils and pastels and exhibiting my work in the Northeast of the USA.
