About The Artwork
During the COVID19 pandemic my art studio seemed to enclose on me. The theme of cages started showing up in sculptures and drawings and paintings. My enchantment with graphite led to the dark sun form. It is made up of multiple layers of thick graphite so it would feel like a bottomless void. The surrounding area is the interior of a nebula of light and chaos where a cage has tried to capture the black sun. It was too fragile and has buckled, drifting; another part of me that feels ineffectual against magnificent forces. Yet, that black sun may hold a whole new life, perhaps inverted, but of exciting energy. Canvas on wooden stretcher, cable for hanging on back. Light coat of archival fixative. Signed.

I've had studios in The Silicon Valley, San Francisco, Taos, New York and have collectors from all types of life. I work in sculpture, drawings, installation art mostly. A lot of things inspire me: particularly amazing textures, mechanical and electronic equipment, line and unusual forms in nature. I work from my main studio in Gallup, NM and my remote one outside Taos, NM and frequent other artist colleagues whenever I can. My main concern is in working constantly to produce better art.
