About The Artwork

Inspired by years of leading plein air painters on outdoor painting excursions in the US and Canada, all types of weather and lighting and life's highest and lowest moments informs the nature and feeling of this work. The artist has enjoys leaving her studio to paint in the outdoors, working alone or leading groups of artists on excursions throughout the US and Canada. Her work is informed by the direct experience of weather, lighting, and terrain, but it is the human experience of life's highest and lowest moments which inform the nature and feeling of all works by this artist. Elizabeth is a third generation artist, carrying on a family legacy in the creative arts, which includes: kimono design, Japanese ceramics, culinary arts, photography, writing, and poetry.  Elizabeth studied painting, print-making, and exploratory mixed media at Silvermine Art. She currently works out of her studio in Cos Cob and has just completed illustrations for a second children's picture book, "Celia and the Glue Man", published by Loving Healing Press. Her first book, "I'm Mixed!" was winner of 2018 Skipping Stones Honor Award for children's literature. Elizabeth is a leading member of the Fairfield County Plein Air Painters, an active member of the New York Society of Women Artists, the Federation of Canadian Artists, and has served on the board of the Loft Artists Association. Current exhibition locations include: GR Art Gallery (Stamford) & White Birch Studio (Westport)
