It is inspired by William Turner (Burning of the Houses of Lords and Commons, 1834), the neighborhood of the artist (Rathaus Schöneberg), and her imagination. She woke up one morning with the vision of the painting just before giving birth to her son. In Chinese culture, the Phoenix is “a type of mythical colorful bird, beautiful creatures with free souls, melodic singing, and charming dance, and only show up in peaceful and flourishing kingdoms.  Fenghuang reign over all other birds. It symbolizes the union of yin and yang, of virtue and grace and blissful relations between husband and wife.
