About The Artwork

How can human relations survive the lockdown and isolation of the population? How can you meet someone when it is forbidden to leave your home or when physical contact is presented as a danger or even a reprehensible act? How do you find a dance partner when the nightclubs are closed? Everything becomes difficult and this is symbolized by this naked woman forced to embrace herself to dance in the absence of a partner in the flesh, moving alone, her mouth covered, in a masked ball a thousand leagues from those of Venice where hundreds of people find themselves in costume and with a domino mask that covers the top of the face, but not the mouth... This painting is a one-of-a-kind piece made in mixed technique on canvas and combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (many layers of transparent glaze and square in relief). The painting is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 76 x 46 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
