autumn night on Cambrian mountains Painting

painting was inspired by beautiful welsh landscape in the autumn. the scene is quite illustrative and depicts the Cambrian mountains at night in late August. At this time of year you can see the Perseid meteor shower (shooting stars) on a clear night. The mountain foliage is starting to turn from green to russet, orange and pink. The sheep are always there, innocent and vulnerable. The river is lit up by the moon. I hope people will get a sense of the spiritual, magic and ethereal beauty of the earth and universe. Perhaps get a sense of the childlike awe and wonder that I feel when I go into the mountains at such a magical time. The painting is a mix of oils, inks, glass paints and water colour paint on tissue paper and watercolour paper. I love working this way, to see how the different type of paints interact with each other to create a magic of their own. The marks they make on tissue paper are great for capturing the rugged landscape. Painting is 9.5 x 9.5 inches. Total size of artwork including white mount and white frame is 16 x16 inches.
