About The Artwork

The path has been a frequent symbol of mine because of its meaning about life's journey. This work depicts an autumnal wander down a New Zealand country road to express metaphorically, embedded beliefs, that can sometimes be our "enemies". Humility and recourse to the word is the plain path and one where the spirit leads if we let him. Its painted on excellent quality watercolor paper, and has some acrylic ink airbrush areas for atmosphere. My style of work picks up on Oriental art but is not highly detailed or gracefully painted like that. Its is patterned in areas and repetitively marked for texture which reference carving marks like that are seen in Maori sculptures.
