About The Artwork
I originally started out making a much brighter piece by spraying the canvas. I’d really been loving deeper orange hues. Like most pieces, I started to deviate slightly, and as the piece revealed itself, this is where it ended up. I typically paint with a lot of anxiety, some ethereal voice that is telling me that what I have isn’t finished, a bitter taste on my tongue. I keep going — layering, scratching, layering, fighting to solve what’s in front of me. Eventually I landed here and whatever was nagging me let go. It was complete. The title came from the struggle with my inner voice and our often contentious relationship, constantly battling me to reveal whatever the universe is trying to say.
