Using found images and fashion spread sheets, this new work is inspired to represent alternative cultures that people follow and identify with. Tattoos, fashion, music and art are entwined through expression. The artist wanted to represent different sub cultures that he sees on a daily basis living in city environment. Through his use of colour and mark making the exuberant, colourful and expressive nature comes out from this painting.

Combining themes of magical realism, figures occupying urban environments, mental health issues and the alternative aesthetics of people, Gordy looks to juxtapose these elements that on first viewing offer a bright and fantastical play into painting but offer a more in-depth insight into the themes that entangle the artists life and the sporadic nature of his thoughts and processes.
