End of april 2023 I enjoyed worldfamous soprano Elise Caluwaerts recital, bringing the complete songs of Alma Mahler, accompanied by the wonderful piano of Marianna Shirinyan. The beautiful St Peter & St Paul church was part of the magic. So magic that I got inspired to paint this ALMA portrait of Elise, personifying Alma Mahler. Painted with red gold pigments, the magic of the work is only visible in real when light and goldreflections come close to Elise’s songs.
