I.- At the back of the closet I grew up watching my grandfather and my father paint at home That's how I started painting. If I wasn't painting, I was writing stories or making cartoons in school books, the kind that you passed through with your fingers. Collage, comics, graffiti, murals and of course, music; Yes, music also arrived and I learned to play drums and something else. Whatever came into my hands was used to create to prevent my ideas from accumulating at the bottom of my mental closet. II.- The 9 suitcases At 15, while I was studying at school, I received a scholarship to study at the Cristobal Rojas art school. At 17 years old I started working and studying advertising. I started as an intern and 11 years later I was Creative Vice President. I never stopped creating, but I spent much less time painting. It was in 2012, when we decided to leave Venezuela and came to Barcelona, Spain, my son, my wife, me and 9 suitcases. III.- The astronaut I took a sabbatical year, which I dedicated above all to my family, our new life and reconnecting with painting. That period was fundamental to consolidate my artistic language. In 2013 we are going to Miami, United States, where we will live for a year. I did not stop working with painting, on the contrary, I connected with new trends and aesthetics. Upon our return to Barcelona in 2014 and back to work in advertising, I manage to organize the times to develop both careers. This is how I manage my own Advertising agency “Jiuston” and my career as a visual artist. IV.- The art of Discovering yourself Having the incredible opportunity to experience the migration of society from a fairly “tangible and solid” world to a “digital, inexhaustible and somewhat unreal” world accompanied by the experience of being a father has made me reflect a lot, perhaps too much, on how evolution, globalization and trends spread on social networks are affecting our individuality. This is how the concept “The art of discovering yourself” was born, an invitation to an inner journey where my artistic work creates opportunities for personal connection and emotional growth. The pieces are an experience that goes beyond the visual or aesthetic, relying on stories and characters that allow the viewer to integrate into the art in an intimate way, discovering feelings, ideas or values that perhaps they had not considered before. think.
