there're mythology of Buddhism in Japanese or Chinese about afterlife that believe Our soul Before reaching the afterlife, the souls of the deceased must cross the river by one of three crossing points and the red flowers that grow in Hell and guide the dead into the next reincarnation. So i've got inspiration from scene of Kimetsuno Yaiba the moment that main character is about going to die and his mom show up in front of him and ask her about how he doing his duty good yet. And She said to him You did really well. So that moment is about how main character embrace the death with smile
