About The Artwork

Using the fluidity and flow of paint on canvas, I apply layers and layers of paint, pouring and overlaying a repetition of gestural marks to create a topography of the surface. Through this continuous process an amalgamated event of texture and density of material reflects a sense of constructive energy that conceals and reveals the story of its making. The imagery suggests a world in a constant state of flux. The earth’s formations have countless layers of rock, sediment, and organic matter forming and reforming over untold millennia of time. The stratum is formed by cataclysms, forces of waters, wind and nature. In time, the deepest known strata become the surface, revealing the story of their making. Like the earth, we are deeply affected by what is hidden and impossible to predict. Over time, our topography is revealed by both erosion and uplift, becoming ever more multi-faceted.
