“Quetzalcoatl bailando” Ancient Mexican codex, orange Digitally enhanced on brown, orange, gray, dark gray and royal blue backgrounds by MM in 2023. Uploaded October 3rd 2023. In 2021 I enhanced and presented on Saatchi Art an ancient pictogram titled “Quetzalcoatl dancing”. To differentiate I have called this new version “Quetzalcoatl bailando”. The image can also be understood as Tloque Nahuaque, the creator of the Universe, who is invisible like the night and intangible like the wind. His immaterial, spiritual nature is expressed as an exploded view disintegrating into space. I am awed by the imagination of the ancient Tlacuilo. He conceived one god, who is everywhere and nowhere at the same time. It is the God proposed by Baruch Spinoza in the 17th century: He is the Universe manifesting himself in all there is, including us. He is every star and planet, every plant, animal and human being. Albert Einstein, Carl Sagan and other distinguished scientists embraced this concept of god, to be grasped by researching nature and obeying, not the mandates of religion, but the laws of the natural world. It is phantastic that an elite of Nahua priests did imagine a single, eternal god beyond superstition, guilt, sorrow and shame. This pictogram bears witness to their imagination and wisdom. The print comes with a 1 cm white border with its title, ancient codex, author and year of creation included on the image as shown. Also available in custom size. Made to order on archival cotton paper in 10 days plus shipping worldwide. If interested please contact mario.mutschlechner@gmail.com

As an industrial photographer from Cologne, Germany, based since 1967 in Mexico City, I used my craft for decades to document scenes and subjects in sharp, detailed and well lit images. Back in the seventies, when simulating views of other planets, I was looking for a different perception of reality and found it with infrared color film. Today I enjoy a creative freedom similar to that of a painter. With the right combination of photograph and digital manipulation I can create images that are a tribute to imagination and beauty. Starting in 2019 I present on Saatchiart 15 collections as a synopsis of my photography, some digitally remastered and others digitally modified, for sale as archival inkjet prints in different sizes.
