I am an admirer of the works of Giles Bettison, the Australian glass artist (now resident in the United States). His works in glass are things of great beauty and even with few colours he uses patterns and colour combinations which are utterly captivating. Patterns of lines No 1 is inspired by a glass vase in a few colours. The patterns and shapes are intended to play with the viewer's mind .. to invite them to see patterns and even humour in the combination of lines of different shades and thicknesses. It is a great pleasure to work with a digital pen, using it to paint on a touch sensitive screen. For me the creation involves being in a state of flow. Time doesn't seem to matter.

I am a colourist. My work explores colour balance, colour contrast and colour relationships. The results are strong vibrant works through to works that are minimalist, subtle and subdued. There are recurring themes of starkness, aloneness, isolation and otherness that reflect my lived experience. While much of my work involves acrylic on canvas and board, I embrace collage and digital painting, mixed media, watercolour and sculpture. I seek to engage with viewers, inviting exploration of the creative process, patterns and markings. Sometime the engagement entails humour. I would like viewers of my work to understand mediums and their meanings. In my mixed media work, I have begun to use found materials, repurposing the mundane and ordinary (for example cardboard) into works that exhibit beauty. My website is: www.trevorroweart.com
