About The Artwork

He has a vague suspicion where he comes from and where he actually belongs. Very curious but also somewhat anxious at the same time. Like any typical homo sapien mammal, he thinks he is adapted to a system based on reason, but he does not notice that branches are growing from his ear, which should lead him back to his real home. The romantic representation together with the use of color that is intended to portray a night scene should give the viewer an idea of real safety. Because the imposed and/or learned fears are now absent. I hope that the viewer will realize again that his abilities are enormous and naturally present. We must remain alert so that this connection does not break again.

Born the 31 of July 1964, Stephan B. Reisig lives and works in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.Stephan B. Reisig (57) is a painter who has lately been drawing mostly with colored pencils on paper. Sometimes he uses mixed techniques like charcoal/pencil and acrylic paint on paper. The style can be described as realism with a certain aspect of alienation and depersonalization of the depicted individual which gives it an urban anonymity. In his newest series he wants to achieve to express the pureness of used materials and the pureness and directness of the depicted (human/ animal) forms trough painting. And drawing, straight on the canvas. But mostly on paper. http://www.behance.net/gallery/Illustrations-Stephan-B-Reisig/12728531 www.stephanreisig.com / www.lama-topart.nl/catalog_showdetail.asp?type_id=&cat_id=&artist_id=42&
