About The Artwork
"Papercuts" are my way of repurposing magazine paper in a beautiful and artful way. Using artforum magazines, I cut, folded and glued thousands of strips of paper so what you see are the folded edges. Combined strategically they form the image you see. I am inspired by Chuck Close originally. In this piece, "Jimmy" I was at an event where I was the featured artist during Super Bowl weekend, and Jimmy Fallon was in town. It was a Friday night and I had passersby participate in writing "thank you notes" on the strips of paper I used in the backround. The backround is cut and folded maps of New York and Minneapolis.
