Support and Seizure Installation

The light in my work is used to bring the sculptures to life. Black light in particular brings otherworldliness to the installations. I believe the use of light encourages viewers to slow down and consider where they are standing. For example, the light used in Gossamer turned the simple pole-barn where it was installed into a glowing cathedral. It also emphasized the intricacies of the surrounding landscape such as Spanish moss hanging off the ancient tress and ivy clinging to the roof and walls. Light influences the design of my work as a form of emphasis: the lines become ethereal elements that invoke curiosity. I am very interested in the use of both natural synthetic and light as a drawing medium. Black light is of particular interest to me because the work is experienced in the dark, an unorthodox way in which to view artwork.
