About The Artwork
This installation features twenty hand mirrors of the sort used in hairdressers and at home. Each mirror has a transparent acetate logo fixed to its surface. So when someone looks in the mirror they see themselves through a brand identity. These logos are of the top twenty social media platforms globally in 2018. Many are familiar to Europeans but many are not, originating as they do in China. The work invites participants to consider the degree to which their face to the world, and what they receive from it, are mediated by the media channels they choose.
