About The Artwork
Combining ideas on the optimism of modernist architecture with the collective memory of film, this video focusses on the moment when collective memory and personal experience collide. It shows a figure in reverie, a typical Nouvelle Vague heroine who seems disconnected from the world around her though greatly immersed in it. Integrated in the images is footage from the film Alphaville, which helps the viewer to find the link with architecture, nouvelle vague and a certain film noir aesthetic but also seems to link the wandering woman with memories of relationships and love.
