Of a tree Referencing the work by Hokusai, 36 views of Mt Fuji, this work is an onoing project of photo-video footages of local landscape. "Of a Tree" comprises a single projection (1 minute) photo-video perspectives of a single tree. It is projected in full-height of the gallery space or wall given. The work is based on the concept that a photograph bears a "fixity", while the video presupposes movement (time, space). The video conceptually destablises the fixity of the image, in what was described as the "permeable frontiers between the photographic and the cine- or videographic" . (Immobile Movement and the speeds of emotion, Francoise Parfait, in Relocating, Victor Burgin). It suggests that space between what is captured in that image with what is overlaid with memory.
